Lady Gaga has posted about her next big beauty business venture – skin health biotech company Outer Bio – and unveiled its new discovery platform Yuna.

The singer and founder of Haus Lab cosmetics posted a cryptic post to her Instagram account on 21 August, publicly announcing her involvement in the research start-up she co-founded with her fiancé Michael Polansky.

Outer Bio is described as a skin bioactives discovery platform that focuses on discovering and testing new approaches to skin health.

The company’s new discovery platform, Yuna, is an ex vivo human-skin platform that enables skin to stay alive, and stay measurable, for four weeks.

It claims to unite living human skin tissue, automated in vitro screening and biomedical artificial intelligence (AI) to discover new molecules and mechanisms to advance skin health.

“Meet @outerbio and Yuna. We are building the future of skin health,” read Gaga’s Instagram post.

“Welcome from Michael, me, KJ [Kyung-Jin Jang, Outer Bio’s Chief Scientific Officer], Chris [Hinojosa, Chief Technology Officer], Stan[ley King II, Chief Business Officer], and the entire team at Outer Bio.”

Gaga is listed as Stefani Germanotta (her birth name) on Outer Bio’s board of directors alongside Polanksy, who is also CEO of the company.

Sara Choi, Partner at Wing Venture Capital – which focuses on early stage health care technology at the intersection of biology, data and health – also sits on the board.

According to the company’s website, Outer Bio was founded to “close the gap” between what we can measure in a lab and what actually works in human skin.

“We believe the next generation of effective, safe skin care actives will come from studying compounds in human tissue – not cell lines, not animal models, not computational predictions alone,” read Outer Bio’s website.

“Our platform makes that possible at a scale that did not exist before.”

Gaga's involvement with Outer Bio was first hinted at in the singer’s November 2025 Rolling Stone magazine cover story, in which Polansky said: "It was her idea.”

He added: “She is officially on the board of directors, but they have kept her name out of it until now.

“The attention that Stefani's involvement would bring was not necessary – it is not consumer-facing.

“When she talks about us being partners, it kind of looks like it all goes one direction, but she is the most incredible support to me as well."

Outer Bio is backed by early stage investors Wing, Initialized ( ), Sozo Ventures, Hawktail, Lightspeed, 3K, Liquid 2 and SV Angel.
