Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Crush Absolu (Olivier Polge; 2026) and 'new' No. 5 eau de toilette reviews
If Gabrielle is the Chanel perfume I most frequently forget exists, then Coco Mademoiselle is the one I most struggle to understand. Goodness knows, I’ve smelt it enough times. Since it first appeared in 2001, it has been as ubiquitous as fragrance gets, making it all the way to the wardrobe of a very close relative of mine, who wore it for years. So my incomprehension certainly doesn’t stem from a lack of familiarity. I hasten to clarify that it’s not the scent itself that I’ve always found a bit baffling — after all, its basic fruity patchouli structure is one that pretty much all brands have adopted at some point over the last few decades, probably in an attempt to emulate the success of Mugler Angel. No, my confusion has been based on an inability to see Coco Mademoiselle as a scent from Chanel.
